Dennis J. Whittaker, Ph.D.

Dennis Whittaker has provided corporate and industrial-organizational psychology services for over 28 years during which he has conducted over 5,000 face-to-face manager and executive assessments. His work with company Directors builds upon extensive consulting experience with 360° surveys, succession planning, team-building retreats, and executive coaching and assessment.

Dennis has worked as a corporate psychologist for 25 years as President of Whittaker Corporate Psychology, PLLC. He is a highly experienced professional who believes in identifying and developing organization talent, and his work follows a passion for building stronger, more effective and thoughtfully-managed organizations.

He has worked extensively in executive development and selection as well as in helping clients improve their human resources management practices. Following an assistantship with General Electric’s Major Appliance Business Group and early training in Quality Circles and the Nominal Group Technique (NGT), Dennis has focused all of his professional activities upon his interest in improving organization performance. His clients have included Food Lion, Bosch-Rexroth U.S., Hanson Brick, Lowe’s Companies, the Cato Corporation, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, and Nucor Corporation.

He is a licensed psychologist and member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Charlotte I/O Psychology Network, and a past President of the Mecklenburg Psychological Association. Dr. Whittaker has also served as a faculty member with Director’s College sessions held by the RTP Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

A Charlotte resident since 1983, Dennis earned a B.S. in Psychology from Louisiana State University and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville. He briefly served as an Instructor at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte and spent 3 years consulting with another firm before founding his business in 1991.

As a Partner with Peter Browning Partners, LLC, his areas of focus include board assessment, group dynamics, succession planning, and the coaching of key executives.
